Toyota to launch a $2.8B Self-Driving Car Company
According to a report published in the Wall Street Journal Japanese automaker, Toyota has invested $2.8 billion in a new Tokyo-based company that will build software for self-driving cars. The New Company will set out with 300 employees but the automaker hopes that number will be increased to about 1,000 as the company takes off.
Toyota has recently set a goal to start testing its autonomous, electric vehicles by 2020. It is part of company’s larger goal of commercially expanding the availability and capability of self-driving cars.
It seems that the time is not far away when autonomous will be commonplace on our roads.
