Looking to have some competitive edges, Nissan Motor Co. and Mitsubishi Motor Corp. started to sell a mini-vehicle which was developed jointly by these two automakers. Nissan will sell the new vehicle under the name of DAYZ and Mitsubishi will sell it under the brand name of eK-Wagon. This newly and jointly developed mini-vehicle has slightly better fuel efficiency of 29.2 km/liter than its competitors in the market.
Chief Operating Officer of Nissan, Toshiyuki Shiga said that both of the automakers are looking forward to enhance their share in the market of mini-vehicles from 10 % to 20% till the next year. The manufacturing has taken place at MMC’s plant located in Okayama Prefecture.
Due to the fuel efficiency and low taxes, mini-vehicles have become much popular in the land of Japan. Daihatsu and Suzuki both automakers are currently having 30% of market share and Honda Motor Co. is following them with 20% of share.
Nissan stated that DAYZ is now available at the retail price between 1,067,850 and 1,567,650 Japanese Yen. Nissan has a goal to sell almost 8,000 units in Japan.
