CATL, EV Battery Supplier For Tesla is Planning to Build EV Battery Plant in China

Chinese battery maker Contemporary Amperex Technology Limited (CATL) plans to build a new electric vehicle battery factory in Shanghai as a company seeks to become the world's largest supplier of electric vehicle batteries. The new plant in Shanghai can produce 80 gigawatt-hours of battery cells per year, a second source said, adding 69.1GWh of current production capacity and another 77.5GWh under construction. The cell-to-packet CATL technology currently used in the Tesla Model 3 in China gives the vehicle a range of approximately 468 km (290 miles) per charge.
