Nissan announces Big Achievement in Thermal Efficiency with Latest e-POWER Hybrid Technology
Automaker Nissan Motor Corp announced what it called a "breakthrough" in engine thermal efficiency with its e-POWER hybrid vehicle technology. Nissan's e-POWER technology uses a small gasoline engine to generate power, separating power from the engine and propulsion at the wheels. The gasoline engine provides electrical power to the electronic powertrain battery pack to keep it charged. Nissan's e-POWER technology achieves a world-leading thermal efficiency of 50%, representing an increase of approximately 20% above the current automotive industry average. This increased efficiency means a further reduction in harmful CO2 emissions.
