Driver Are Too Trusting in Partial Autonomous Vehicle Claims IIHS Report
According to research by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the AgeLab Institute of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), today's driver assistance systems work to keep drivers off their feet. To collect their data, the two institutions got two groups of 10 people to drive two vehicles with a modern driver assistance system. The first group of 10 drove a Land Rover Range Rover Evoque equipped with adaptive cruise control, and another 10 drove a Volvo S90 with adaptive cruise control and Pilot Assist. The two groups of 10 drove their cars for a month while examining how they drove. Compounds are a great representation of what is available on the market today. The Evoque Adaptive Cruise Control is included in the international SAE standard as a Tier 1 system because it can assist the driver in handling a single task. Volvo Pilot Assist is a Tier 2 system capable of handling two driver tasks. As the IIHS claims, Level 2 is the ultimate consumer driver assistance system that a consumer can purchase in a production vehicle today.
