Hyundai Reveals Specifications for Upcoming 2022 Tucson SUV
South Korean automaker Hyundai is developing its electric strategy with great enthusiasm. The company recently unveiled its next environmentally-focused range that will hit the market in 2022. The Hyundai Tucson PHEV will be powered by a 13.8 kWh battery pack, which the company says will deliver 70 mph in fuel economy. Customers can recharge their depleted battery packs to full capacity in less than two hours using Tucson's 7.2 kW onboard charger. The 2022 Tucson PHEV will feature a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 180 hp and 195 lb-ft of peak torque. The four-cylinder engine comes with a six-speed automatic gearbox and a 66.9 kW electric motor that produces 224 pound-feet of torque for a combined power of 261 hp. The electric motor is coupled to the transmission and helps drive the SUV's overall performance. The Tucson PHEV will also have a battery-only drive mode and provide 28 miles of purely electric driving range.
