Abu Dhabi Police to Start 'Smart Vehicle Impounding' At Homes in June

Police in the UAE Capital have announced that they would activate the smart vehicle impounding system service in June. All impounded vehicles will remain in the custody of the vehicle owners instead of the ‘impound yard’. The new system will be applicable from June 1. If the car owners decide to pay fines and a fee they can get away without impounding.

The new system will allow the car owners to complete any and all traffic transactions easily during the impounding period. In addition, the owners will be able to maintain appropriate care and safety of the car and its parts. If the car owner decides to pay fines and a fee, motorists can get away without the impounding. The current system makes the owners to pay Dh100 per day while under the new smart system the owners will pay Dh15 for each day.

The authorities can impound your vehicle for a number of reasons such as speeding, illegal parking, noisy engine modifications, window tints that are too dark for carrying passengers illegally. The impounding period for such violations can be anywhere from a week to 90 days – and each day after this penalized period that the car is not collected, the owner accrues further fines.
