Toyota Aims to Win the Autonomous Vehicle Race

The Japanese automaker is planning to win the autonomous vehicle race. Even though it has been a late entry like in the industry, it is aspiring to catch up with the others.

Toyota’s operational excellence is well-regarded. The Toyota Production System remains the envy for the world. Many companies have adopted the principles of the Toyota system to emulate the efficiency and speed of the Japanese automaker.

But, Toyota is hanging back in the software and technology space in recent years. The late arrival of the company has caught the attention as the battle for the self-drifting cars has intensified. Other automakers have been investing heavily in these programs.

The late coming has failed to dampen Toyota’s enthusiasm or confidence.

The Japanese automaker will have to do a lot of work if have to catch up with the current leaders.
